Linder PSR John Suggs Earns Komatsu 2024 North American Championship

Linder Product Support Representative John Suggs has held many titles in his career: equipment operator, technician, and field mechanic, and now he has a new one: champion.

Komatsu named him PSR North American Champion for 2024.

John says, "I have to be honest; I teared up a little when Komatsu made the announcement."

The road to the title is long. First, Komatsu dealers nominate a PSR for a regional competition. John won the East Region to advance to the North American finals to face off with PSRs from the West, Mid-West, and Canada.

At the championship round in Key West, Florida, each candidate gave a presentation highlighting a customer success story and a PSR role-playing scenario the judges prepared.

"Each round had a time limit, which made it both challenging and pretty cool," says John.

Based out of Linder's Concord and Greensboro branches, John has been involved with construction equipment since high school. He worked in the family's grading business, bought his first dump truck at 17, and was a field mechanic for over 20 years. These valuable and diverse experiences help John become a PSR that customers count on.

"When a customer asks for help with their fleet, it's a golden opportunity to build a lasting relationship," says John. We as professionals should embrace these requests and welcome challenges that result in successes for our customers and us as Linder PSRs."

Now that he's the North American Champion, John can become the world champion. Next month, he will compete against PSRs from around the globe at Komatsu headquarters in Japan.
